| Sweet Chestnut Designs is based 12 miles from the market town of
Biggar, in rural South Lanarkshire, Scotland. It’s owner/designer,
Catherine White studied engineering at college and has combined the
skills gained during that time, working with all types of metal in
an industrial way with her passion for crafts resulting in a unique
style of work.
Catherine accidentally found herself in the wedding industry after
making a tiara from a project in a craft magazine. This Sunday afternoon
experiment was sitting on the coffee table about to be dismantled
and the beads recycled for another project when some friends visited
and convinced her to make some more designs as they liked the first
one so much that they decided that Catherine’s tiaras would
sell in the bridal world.
After just one week the first order came in, closely followed by
a second and Sweet Chestnut Designs is the result. Almost every bridal
piece on the website has been commissioned by a customer and the
range
of products continues to grow almost weekly.
We also have a second range of jewellery that is which is completely
non-bridal and where Catherine has free reign to design some very
wearable yet different pieces. Evelyn White came aboard Sweet Chestnut
Designs during the spring of 2008 purely to source the beads and
findings for this range and also to advise on style and design.
Sweet
Chestnut Designs does not have a printed brochure or showroom,
our website serves as both!
